I have applied for UK Student visa(tier 4) with DEPENDENT on 18 march 2011,I haven't heard anything from them?

I have had an intake date of 6th may, however as i didn't get an answer, I got extension letter from college till 6th June 2011, however it is also passed, I emailed deputy high commission and they told me that there are external inquiries going on and too wait till I hear from them? Does it really take 3 months to get UK student Visa, with dependent..
